Westlake Area Daycare & Preschools

Butterfly Christian Prescshool is located on Bee Cave Road (FM 2244). It opened in 1977 and offers programs for children 18 months – 4 years old. This Preschool is sponsored by Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS), and accredited by the Evangelical Lutheran Education Association (ELEA). Childs Day is located in the Timberline Office Park near the intersection of Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) and Mopac Expressway (Loop 1). This child care center offers programs for infants through pre-kindergarten. The curriculum is structured in tight age brackets enabling teachers to be highly tuned to the developmental stages and temperament of every child.  Visit Childs Day for more information.

Elsass Academy in Westlake  rests on 3 beautiful, shaded acres in the Westlake Hills area. The family-owned and operated business maintains a lower student-teacher ratio than required by the Texas State Licensing Department, enabling children to receive extra attention.  This eclectic facility is specifically designed for pre-school, after-school care and summer camps. Bright Horizons is located at 4613-B Bee Cave Road (FM2244). It opened the Westlake location in January 2018. This child care center offers programs for infants through pre-kindergarten as well as a summer program. Riverbend Preschool is located at 4214 Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360), on the northwest corner of the intersection with Cedar Street This preschool has received a 4-star certification with Texas Rising Stars and is licensed by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). St. John Neumann’s Preschool is located at 5455 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) in the St. John Neumann Catholic Church. This preschool program serves children 12 months – 5 years old.  Classes are Monday through Friday from 8:45 am until 1:00 pm. The Children’s Center of Austin is located on Bee Cave (FM 2244) Road between Lowell Lane and Beardsley Lane.  The center offers quality child care for infants to pre-kindergarten, and afterschool child care for kindergarten through 5th grade. Summer camps are also available for children ages 5-8 years old. Primrose School of Westlake is located a 3423-A Bee Cave Road (FM 2244). This child care center offers care for infants through kindergarten. Westlake Hills Presbyterian Preschool is located at 7127 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) at the corner of Barton Creek Boulevard in the lower level of the Westlake Hills Presbyterian Church. This Austin Rising Star certified program serves families of children 17 months – 5 years old. Westlake United Methodist Preschool  is located at 1460 Redbud Trail.  The preschool has been operating for 33 years and was accredited in 1987.  The approach is child-centered and developmentally appropriate to meet the needs of each individual child. Young Peoples Workshop Spanish Immersion School (Westlake Campus) is located on Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) and offers a unique variety of workshops in art, science, music, Spanish, and robotics for toddlers through children up to  12 years old.  Programs are held year-round and are designed to provide new experiences not found in regular classrooms. Westlake Area Parks w/ Playgrounds

While there are many neighborhood parks, the following are public Westlake area parks featuring playgrounds:

Lost Creek Park is located just west of Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360) in Lost Creek on Lost Creek Boulevard.  It has a playground for children, grills and picnic tables.

Rollingwood Park is a quiet, hidden park in the Rollingwood neighborhood just west of Mopac Expressway (Loop 1) and north of Bee Cave Road (FM 2244). It has 2 play areas for children, a pavilion and baseball fields (Hatley Field). It is also near the Rollingwood community pool.

Zilker Metropolitan Park is located in the heart of downtown Austin, close to the Westlake area.  It covers over 351 acres and provides visitors with picnic areas, sand volleyball courts and the popular Barton Springs Pool. Zilker Playground offers a miniature locomotive that families can ride together, a fire engine (perfect for climbing), along with a playscape full of bridges, ramps, chutes and slides. The park is also home to the Umlauf Sculpture Garden and Museum and the Austin Nature and Science Center.

Westlake Area Restaurants w/Playgrounds

Austin’s Pizza is located at 3638 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244).  This local favorite has a large outdoor seating area and wooden playscape set in a big fenced area away from the busy road.

Chik-Fil-A (Westlake)  is located at 701 Capital Of Texas Highway (Loop 360) in the Village at Westlake shopping center and features an indoor play area.  This restaurant also offers a wide variety of family activities throughout the year.

Doc’s Backyard is located at 5207 Brodie Lane in Sunset Valley. This sports-themed restaurant features an outdoor seating and playground area that allows parents to supervise children while enjoying their meal.

Hat Creek  is located at 5902 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244). This family-friendly restaurant at the corner of Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360) and Bee Cave Road (FM 2244) features a large outdoor playground with swings and slides.

Kerbey Lane Cafe is located at 701 S. Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360). This restaurant features a playground and pet friendly patio.

Waterloo Ice House (360) is located at 6203 Capital of Texas Highway (Loop 360).  The restaurant offers a kid-friendly menu and large outdoor playground.

Westlake Area Children Activities & Groups

There are a variety of organizations and groups in the Westlake area that offer activities for children and opportunities for parents to meet other parents with similar aged children.    We have compiled a list below.   Please email us any additions.

Westlake Area Libraries

The Westlake area has 2 libraries, including the Westbank Library, created in 1983 and Laura’s Library, built in 2009. Current visitor numbers exceed 360,000 per year, with library circulation nearing 750,000 annually.

Laura’s Library  is located at 9411 Bee Cave Road (FM 2244).

Fri-Sun: 11-5

Westbank Library is located at 1309 Westbank Drive – This library features an outdoor play area with a slide and sandboxes.

Both locations offer a variety of Storytimes for a wide range of ages including infant, toddler, and preschool, as well as a Spanish Storytime, Nature Storytime and even a Pajama Storytime. The Krafty Kid program gives children the opportunity to create a new craft each month. Westlake/Eanes Mom’s Group
